New album: I’m Listening
In 2022-2023 pianist Marnix van de Poll toured to nine museums in The Netherlands with his performance art project I’m Listening. In the custom built Listening Pavilion, designed by Dre Wapenaar, he listened to museum visitors one-on-one after which he answered each conversation with a free improvisation. Other museum visitors could listen in through headphones. In total he had over 130 conversations and thus an equal number of free improvisations.
Marnix: “I’m Listening was a very meaningful project, for myself personally, and for all those that I have had conversations with and those who were just visiting the performance. Many times people were deeply touched. I would like use the recorded improvisations. I have selected nine of them, the most beautiful ones, one per museum that the project visited. I really would like for everybody to enjoy them!”
