Hello World
Pianist and performance artist Marnix van de Poll has a fascination for nature. In his music and performances he seeks a connection between man and nature, man and man, man and art.
With his Steinway he also literally seeks these connections. Piano performances in the dunes during Oerol Festival, open-air concerts in the Japanese Garden of Clingendael Park, Monday morning concerts on the ferry across the IJ in Amsterdam.
During his artist-in-residence in Slovenia, he rediscovered nature. It took him on foot from the Netherlands to Portugal. During this journey he met temporary companions, shelter providers, interlocutors, nature, himself. The rhythm of the journey, listening to silence, to nature, to fellow human beings and to himself brought him a lot. Rest, lightness, groundedness and inspiration.
Hello World expresses that inspiration and the desire to share it with others.

Hello World! Concert for piano and nature. Sound recordings in the nature around Bergen are answered and embraced in a 70 to 90 minute piano improvisation.
